1. What is Withdrawal button?

Withdrawal button is a standalone overlay section that places a persistent, always-visible button on your storefront, linking customers directly to your withdrawal or returns request page. Because it floats on top of the page content, shoppers can access the returns process from any page without having to search through menus or the footer.

It is designed to help stores comply with EU consumer rights regulations - specifically the Right of Withdrawal - by making the withdrawal process easy to find and initiate.

2. Location & Setup

To add the Withdrawal button section:

  • Open the Shopify Theme Editor (Online Store > Themes > Customize).
  • In the left panel, scroll down to the Overlay group.
  • Click "Add section" and select Withdrawal button.

3. Highlight Features

  • Always visible - the button floats on top of all page content and is accessible from every page of your store, without requiring any additional navigation.
  • Flexible positioning - place the button anywhere on screen using a 9-point grid or fine-tune its exact location with custom horizontal and vertical percentages.
  • Overlay group placement - lives alongside other overlay elements (cookie banner, popup, age verification) so it doesn't interfere with your page layout.

4. Common Use Cases

🤔 How to add and set up Withdrawal button?

STEP 1: Add the section

In the Theme Editor, scroll to the Overlay group in the left panel. Click "Add section" and select Withdrawal button.

STEP 2: (Required) Set Button link

In the section settings panel, fill in the Button link field. It is suggested to fill in the URL of your withdrawal or returns request page.

STEP 3: Customize the label

Edit the Button label.

STEP 4: Set the button position

Adjust the Button position to your preference.

STEP 5: Set the button color element

Choose colors for button elements to match your brand's aesthetics.

STEP 6: Click "Save" when done.

⚠️ Tip: Link this button to the page where you've added the Withdrawal request form section, so customers land directly on the form. See the Withdrawal request form guide for how to set that page up.

🤔 How to position the button so it doesn't overlap other elements?

If the floating button overlaps a live chat widget, cookie banner, or other overlay element, use the Custom position option to move it out of the way.

STEP 1: In the Withdrawal button settings, change Button position to Custom.

STEP 2: Adjust Custom horizontal position and Custom vertical position values. These represent the button's position relative to the viewport - for example, Horizontal: 95%, Vertical: 85% places it near the bottom-right corner with a small margin.

STEP 3: Preview on desktop and mobile to confirm the button doesn't overlap any important UI. Adjust percentages as needed.

STEP 4: Click "Save" when done.
