1. What is Fixed bundle?
The Fixed bundle section sells a fixed, curated set of up to five products as a single package with one Add to cart button.

2. Section Components
| Section | Fixed bundle | Sells a fixed set of products together with one Add to cart button, a running total, and a savings amount. |
|---|---|---|
| Available blocks | Product | One product in the bundle. Limit 5 per section. |
| Countdown | An optional timer to create urgency. Limit 1 per section. |
3. Location & Setup
To add & set up the Fixed bundle section:
- Open the Shopify Theme Editor (Online store > Themes > Customize) and select the page you want the bundle on.
- Click "Add section".
- Select Fixed bundle.
4. Highlight Features
- Three layouts, one section: Conversion is a compact horizontal row joined by plus signs, Mixed splits an editorial image column against a compact product list, and Storytelling is a tall, numbered step-by-step layout.
- Flexible variants: lock a product to one specific variant, or leave it open so shoppers get a variant picker with live price and total updates.
- Configurable out-of-stock handling: choose whether a sold-out item locks the whole bundle, hides it entirely, or is simply excluded so the rest can still be bought.
- Built-in countdown: add urgency with a Standard (fixed end date) or Evergreen (repeats per visitor) timer, styled to match your bundle.
5. Common Use Cases
🤔 How to set up the Fixed bundle section?
STEP 1: Add the Fixed bundle section
STEP 2: Add your products
Under Fixed bundle section, add up to five Product blocks and configure each block:
- Product: Pick the product to include.
- Variant ID: Paste a specific variant ID to lock the bundle to that exact variant. Leave it blank and the customer gets a variant picker on the storefront instead.
- Quantity: Set how many of this item are included.
- Category label: Set optional label shown above the product name.
- Badge: Enter text to show as a badge on product image.
- Description: Only shown when Layout is Mixed or Storytelling.
STEP 3: Choose the layout for the section
Open the section settings panel and choose a Layout that fits your preference. Explore more about 3 different layouts in the next use case.
STEP 4: Set the content
Click on the Fixed bundle section to open its settings panel, then under Content, edit:
- Subheading and Heading, then adjust its size/tag.
- Description: Supporting text under the heading
STEP 5: Set the price and discount
Under Price & discount, enter a Discount value and pick a matching Discount type (Percentage / Fixed amount, default Percentage).
⚠️ The Discount value shown here is display only — it does not create a real discount. You must also create a matching discount rule in Shopify admin > Discounts, or customers will see one saving on the bundle and a different total at checkout. Leaving Discount value blank causes the Add to cart button to error, so don't skip it.
STEP 5: Choose your out-of-stock behavior using the Out of stock setting (see the dedicated use case below).
STEP 6: Optionally add a Countdown block to put a timer on the bundle (see the Countdown use case below).
STEP 7: Click "Save" when done.
🤔 What's the difference between the three layouts?
- Conversion — a compact horizontal row of items joined by plus signs, with no hero image. Best for a quick, low-friction offer. Doesn't use step numbers, and this is the only layout with a Background image / Mobile image and Overlay opacity setting.
- Mixed — splits the section into an editorial image column (Hero image) and a compact product list.
- Storytelling — a tall, full-width editorial layout with a large hero image and numbered steps (01/02/03) walking shoppers through each product.
Open the section settings panel and choose a Layout that fits your preference
| Conversion layout | ![]() |
| Storytelling layout | ![]() |
| Mixed layout | ![]() |
💡 Note: Which settings appear changes with the layout you pick — Hero image only shows for Mixed and Storytelling, while Background image, Mobile image, and Overlay opacity only show for Conversion. Step numbers (Show/Hide, default Show) applies to Mixed and Storytelling only, and only on desktop. On mobile, all three layouts collapse to a single vertical column.
🤔 What do the Out of stock options do?
The Out of stock setting (default: "Lock button + show which item is out") controls what happens when one of the bundle's products sells out:
- Lock button + show which item is out — the Add to cart button is disabled, and the sold-out item is clearly marked so shoppers know why.
- Hide the whole bundle — the entire section is hidden as soon as any included product is out of stock.
- Allow buying the remaining items — the sold-out item is excluded from the bundle automatically, and the rest can still be purchased together.
🤔 How to add a Countdown timer to the bundle?
The Countdown block adds an optional timer inside the Fixed bundle section to create urgency. Only one Countdown block is allowed per section.
STEP 1: Add the block
Inside the Fixed bundle section, click "Add block" and choose Countdown.
STEP 2: Pick a Countdown type
- Standard timer: Counts down to one fixed moment for every visitor. Set the Time zone, Year, Month, Day, Hour, and Minute for the end date.
- Evergreen timer: Restarts for each visitor on a repeating loop. Set Duration (per loop) (1–30) and Unit (Days/Hours), plus the start date fields.
⚠️ Set your end date before publishing. The Year and other date fields default to the current date, so a Standard timer left untouched may already read as expired. Double-check the Time zone too, since it defaults to GMT+7.
STEP 3: Choose where the timer appears using Countdown position — On bundle / Summary / Both (default: Both). On mobile, the timer always shows in the sticky CTA bar regardless of this setting, so it stays visible while scrolling.
STEP 4: Edit the content
Set Heading and Text. These only apply to the "On bundle" position.
STEP 5: Choose what happens at zero using Time out behavior:
- Show message (default) — the countdown holds at 00:00:00 and the Message text (default: "The promotion has ended") replaces the Heading/Text.
- Hide countdown timer — the timer itself is hidden once it reaches zero.
💡 Note: Either way, once the timer hits zero the Add to cart button is disabled — Time out behavior only controls whether the clock stays visible, not whether the offer can still be purchased.
STEP 6: Style the timer — Text position (Below/Aside), Timer style (Square/Round), Separator (None/Colon/Vertical line), Line and border (None/Solid/Dashed), Background opacity and Timer background opacity (0–100%), and separate timer/text/background colors for light and dark mode.
⚠️ Evergreen timers aren't recommended for the Storytelling layout and carry a compliance risk around fake urgency in some markets — notably the EU. Consider a Standard timer with a real end date instead if this applies to your store.
