Request for quote
Ask AI

1. What is Request for quote?

Request for quote lets your B2B customers ask for custom pricing on the products and quantities they're browsing, instead of placing an order right away. They fill in a short form, and the request is sent straight to you as a lead - no order or checkout is created.

⚠️ Note: Request for quote is only available to logged-in B2B (company account) customers. Guests and regular retail customers never see the "Request quote" button.

Once enabled, a "Request quote" button becomes available in:

  • Quick order list
  • Bulk order
  • Cart page
  • Cart drawer
  • Collection order view (the Quick order layout of the Product grid section, for B2B customers who haven't been approved for pricing yet)

2. Location & Setup

To turn on Request for quote:

  1. Go to "Online Store" > "Themes" > "Customize".
  2. Click the Theme settings tab (gear icon).
  3. Go to Product > B2B features > Quote request.

3. Setting group overview

Config Purpose

Notes field message Helper text shown above the Notes field in the Quote request form (e.g. asking for a delivery timeline). Leave blank to hide the helper text. Only shows once Request for quote is turned on.

4. Common Use Cases

🤔 How to turn on Request for quote for B2B customers?

STEP 1: Open the setting

Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize, click the Theme settings tab (gear icon), then go to Product > B2B features > Quote request.

STEP 2: Turn on the button

Toggle on Request for quote. The "Request quote" button will now appear for B2B customers in Quick order list, Bulk order, Cart page, Cart drawer, and Collection order view.

STEP 3: Customize the Notes field message (optional)

Enter a short message in Notes field message - it appears above the Notes field in the popup, to guide customers on what to include (e.g. "Please share your delivery timeline, preferred terms..."). Leave it blank if you don't want any helper text.

STEP 4: Click "Save" when done.

🤔 What happens when a B2B customer requests a quote?

Clicking "Request quote" from any supported location opens a popup pre-filled with the products the customer was already looking at:

🔍 Information: Inside the "Request for quote" popup

  • Product list: Every product and variant carried over from where the customer clicked "Request quote", each showing its image, name, inventory status, price, and a quantity field they can still adjust. Products with multiple variants can be expanded to edit each variant individually, and any row can be removed with the delete icon.
  • Quantity rules & volume pricing still show as a guide (e.g. "Inc: 3, Min: 3, Max: 99") but aren't enforced - since this is a quote request, not an order, customers can enter any quantity they want a price for.
  • Sold-out and pre-order items can still be included in a request.
  • Contact Information: Company name, Email, and Phone number are required; Contact name, Company address, and Additional information are optional. The Notes field message you set up shows as helper text above the Notes box.
  • A footer note reminds customers that "Only items with quantity greater than 0 will be included and sent to request quote."

Once the customer clicks "Request quote" at the bottom of the form, they see a confirmation message ("Quote request sent - We've received your quote request. Our store will review it and get back to you with pricing soon."), and you receive an email with the product list, quantities, and the customer's contact details. No order is created and no stock is deducted.
