Collection description

1. What is Collection Description?

The Collection Description section displays detailed information (set up in Shopify admin) about a collection on the collection page. It is a simple but effective tool to describe what makes a collection fascinating.

⚠️ Note: This section can only be used on the Collection page.

2. Location & Setup

  1. Go to "Online Store" > "Themes" > "Customize".
  2. Click on the Homepage dropdown menu > Collection > Default collection.
  3. Click "Add section".
  4. Search for "Collection description".
  5. Click on it to add the section.

A container to show the detailed description of a collection.

4. Core Features

  • Dynamically updated: The description automatically changes depending on the selected collection.
  • Flexible layout: Adjust padding, alignment, and text size for better design consistency.
  • "Read More" toggle: Manage long descriptions with collapsible content for cleaner layout.

🤔 How to set up the Collection Description?

Don’t know where to start with your Collection Description section? Just follow this simple guide:

STEP 1: Add the section

In Theme Editor, click the dropdown menu > Collection > Collection page. Then, add the Collection description section.

STEP 2: Adjust content & layout

  • Enter a Heading.
  • Choose the Default content height.
  • Set the Text size that fits your theme design.

STEP 3: Click “Save” when done.
