1. What is Blog Post Page?

A Blog Post page is where individual blog articles appear on your Shopify store. It displays the full content of a blog post, including text, images, metadata (such as author and date), and interactive elements like comments and social sharing options.


2. Location & Setup

  1. Go to "Online Store" > "Themes" > "Customize".
  2. Click on the Homepage dropdown menu.
  3. Search for "Blog Post".
  4. Click on it to navigate.
  5. From here, you can customize the page template as you want.

3. Page Components

This part mentions the sections & blocks that are ONLY AVAILABLE for the Blog post page.

4. Common Use Cases

🤔 How to set up a blog post page?

Want to set up your blog post page? Here's how:

STEP 1:

Click on the Blog post section to open its settings panel.

STEP 2: Decide what to show or hide

  • Breadcrumbs: Turn on Show breadcrumbs
  • Author name, publication date: Under Blog title setting group, turn on Show author and Show date.
  • Number of comments: Under Blog post setting group, turn on Show comments.
  • Back to main blog button: Under Back to blog setting group, turn on Show back to blog.

STEP 3: Adjust the image & text look

  • Under Featured image setting group, you can adjust the image height on desktop 🖥️ and mobile 📱.
  • Under Blog title setting group, adjust Heading size, Heading tag and Heading alignment.
  • Under Blog content setting group, adjust Text size.

STEP 4:

Click "Save".

 

🤔 How to add and set up a sidebar to the blog post page?

STEP 1: Add the section

Add the Sidebar section.

STEP 2: Add the blocks to show the information you want

There are 6 types of blocks available in the section. When you add the Popup section, all the blocks are added by default. you can add, edit, and delete some blocks to your setup preference.

Here's how to set up the blocks:

Table of contents

  • Toggle Show in tab to display the table of contents inside a collapsible tab.
  • Enter the Heading that appears above your table of contents.
  • Choose the Title size: Small, Medium, Large.
  • Choose the List style (how the sections within the table of contents are displayed): Number (1,2,3…) or Bullet point.

Highlight text

Enter Title and Text and choose their sizes.

Promotion banner

  • Add the Image to the banner and adjust its height and overlay opacity.
  • Enter Heading, Text and adjust their sizes.
  • Set up a navigation button with its name and link.

Promotional product

  • Enter Heading and adjust Title size to fit your preference.
  • Add up to 10 Promotional products to show a quick link to buy them right next to the blog.

Blog tags

Edit the Heading of the block.

Social sharing

Enable share buttons so readers can easily post the blog on platforms like Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest.

STEP 3: Customize the sidebar's look

Click on the Sidebar to open its settings panel:

  • Choose the Sidebar position: on the Left or Right of the blog post page.
  • Toggle Enable sticky sidebar to keep the sidebar visible when you scroll down the blog.

Click "Save".

 

🤔 What customization options can you give your Blog post page?

For the whole Blog post section

✨ Enable microdata schema for better SEO

Click on the Search result section, scroll down to Blog post setting group, turn on Enable microdata schema.

✨ Change the page width, top/bottom padding

Click on the Blog post section, and scroll down to the Section layout group, and you will be able to change those settings.
