How to install a Group of Sections

OT: Theme Sections is a powerful way to add dynamic content and customize your site's layout. This guide provides a clear, step-by-step walkthrough of how to install a group of theme sections using a typical Shopify app.  

Whether you're a seasoned Shopify pro or just getting started, this guide will help you quickly and easily enhance your online store.

What are section groups?

A section group is a bundle of pre-designed website elements, containing multiple individual theme sections.

These sections can range from headers and footers to image galleries, product carousels, and contact forms. By grouping related sections together, these bundles make it easy to quickly add a complete set of features or design elements to your store, saving you time and effort compared to adding each section individually.

Getting Started: Installing Your Section Group

The process generally involves these easy steps:

1. Choosing Your Section Group:

In tab Groups, browse or search the available groups to find the specific set of sections you need.

2. Installation Options:

Once you've selected a group, you'll usually have two ways to install it:

• Direct Installation: Look for an "Add to Theme" button.

Click it, choose the specific Shopify theme you want to add the sections to, and confirm the installation.

• Detailed View: Click on the image or name of the group to see detailed information about the sections included.

From this view, you should also be able to select your theme and click "Install."

3. Heading to the Theme Editor:

After the app confirms the successful installation, the sections are now available to your chosen theme. However, they're not yet visible on your store. You need to add and customize them within the Shopify Theme Editor.

• Access the Editor: After successfully installing the section group, click "Go to Theme Editor" to access the editor.

• Adding Sections to Pages: In the theme editor, navigate to the specific page where you want to use the new sections (e.g., Homepage, Product Page, Collection Page). Look for an "Add Section" button or area. The newly installed sections from your group should now appear in the list of available options.

• Customization: Add the sections to your page and use the theme editor's controls to customize their content, layout, colors, and other settings. This is where you'll make the sections truly your own.

• Saving Your Work: Don't forget to click "Save" in the theme editor to publish your changes!
